Though it’s only the third day of January, 2016 has already proven to be a pretty challenging year for me so far. Through the hardships, though, I hope to accomplish some things as well. I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season and can achieve your New Year goals along with me.

1. Purchase a domain name for my blog.

Thanks to the generous contributions of family, friends and readers, I have already been able to accomplish this goal. Starting today Tea Time with Mia Renee is officially miareneecole.com! It has been quite the journey  and I am very thankful for the support and encouragement I have received over the years. What a great start to the year!

2. Quit drinking sodas entirely…like for good.

I’ve given up sodas time and time again, and I am usually pretty good at not drinking them (besides the occasional Shirley Temple when out because, why not?). Sodas, however, are extremely bad and I’d like to quit drinking them entirely, with no intention of picking them up regularly again. Of course, this does not include that random Shirley Temple at dinner…

3. Eat only chicken, turkey and fish for meats.

So last year I went pescatarian (i.e. I only ate fish as a meat) and I discovered many health benefits from doing so. I would like to eat healthier meats again, but by only giving up red meat and pork.

4. Go to the gym at least 3 times a week.

I know…pretty stereotypical, but I need to get back into a gym routine. I used to feel so great after going to the gym–even if it was for just an hour a day. I feel like three times a week is definitely a good start and not at all hard for me to accomplish considering my class schedule for this semester.

5. Only have a Starbucks sugary drink once a week.

This will honestly probably be the hardest goal for me to accomplish because I LOVE Starbucks. Starbucks is my go-to study and work place and their drinks are definitely pleasing to the taste buds. I enjoy their unsweetened drinks (black iced tea, especially), however, and choosing to drink those more than lattes will prove to be better for me and my wallet.

6. Spend money better.

If blowing money could be a hobby, it would be my hobby. With a steady paycheck for the first time in my life, I can now track my monthly spending and choose to spend more conservatively (and also save up for a birthday tattoo, eh?).

7. Get summer job/internship.

The last thing I want this summer is to be sitting around watching Netflix. I’d really like to dive into work, whether it’s my previous summer job (which I LOVED) or it’s an internship with a company. Experience is experience.

8. Take at least one summer class.

With my double-major/minor, I have quite a bit of work on my shoulders for the next four years. In order to graduate one time, this requires that I study over the summer as well. At least one class this summer to fulfill a gen-ed should suffice.
